TWO THOUSAND ONE, NINE ELEVEN (2001-911) Two thousand one, nine eleven Three thousand plus arrive in heaven As they pass through the gate, Thousands more appear in wait A bearded man with stovepipe hat Steps forward saying, "Lets sit, lets chat" They settle down in seats of clouds A man named Martin shouts out proud "I have a dream!" and once he did The Newcomer said, "Your dream still lives." Groups of soldiers in blue and gray Others in khaki, and green then say "We're from Bull Run, Yorktown, the Maine" The Newcomer said, "You died not in vain." From a man on sticks one could hear "The only thing we have to fear. The Newcomer said, "We know the rest, trust us sir, we've passed that test." "Courage doesn't hide in caves You can't bury freedom, in a grave," The Newcomers had heard this voice before A distinct Yankees twang from Hyannisport shores A silence fell within the mist Somehow the Newcomer knew that this Meant time had come for her to say What was in the hearts of the five thousand plus that day "Back on Earth, we wrote reports, Watched our children play in sports Worked our gardens, sang our songs Went to church and clipped coupons, We smiled, we laughed, we cried, we fought Unlike you, great we're not" The tall man in the stovepipe hat Stood and said, "Don't talk like that! Look at your country, look and see You died for freedom, just like me" Then, before them all appeared a scene Of rubbled streets and twisted beams Death, destruction, smoke and dust And people working just 'cause they must Hauling ash, lifting stones, Knee deep in hell, but not alone "Look! Blackman, Whiteman, Brownman, Yellowman Side by side helping their fellow man!" So said Martin, as he watched the scene "Even from nightmares, can be born a dream." Down below three firemen raised The colors high into ashen haze The soldiers above had seen it before On Iwo Jima back in '44 The man on sticks studied everything closely Then shared his perceptions on what he saw mostly "I see pain, I see tears, I see sorrow -- but I don't see fear." My Feelings Toward My Country If you have got this far and are still here you must know my feelings about my country . I have been part of the silent majority for to long now . Just standing by and watching a few self serving groups of people , Judges that think they know more that the great people that built this country, and Politicians that do nothing but seek reelection , take away all that is so good about this country . I am a 73 year old Korean War Veteran , that has lived through two other wars . I guess that makes me a Geezer ? .....................You know what a Geezer is ?????? He is the old fellow that stands at attention with his hand over his heart when an American flag passes by . He will sing the national anthem , wether he has a good voice or not, and he knows all the words . He sees nothing wrong with a prayer before a school football game . It has never hurt anyone in the stands and maybe kept some kids on the field from getting hurt ? He also don't see what the big flap about the ten commandments hanging on the court house wall is either ? The only way they could hurt someone is if they fell off and hit them . Besides this is a free country and you don't have to read them , unless these folks are trying to get that changed to ! He thinks every day at school should start with a Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the country who is sending you there . He thinks that the people that want to get "In God We Trust " removed from our money , sure have a lot of it to spend and didn't care what was printed on it when they acquired it . Besides if we can't trust him ...who can we trust ? Geezers don't hold to anyone burning an American flag in their presence ..................especially this one ! He is also the guy you see at the airport shaking hands with the military men and women , and thanking them for the job they are doing for us , tracking down and keeping the terrorist over there and not here blowing up more of our buildings and killing more innocent men and women . Geezer's don't really care how terrorist prisoners are treated , when their treatment to prisioners is sawing their heads off on TV . If one American life is saved by a Marine roughing up a Terrorist prisoner , hell give them each one to work on ! Oh yes , This Geezer will forgive Jane Fonda , When the Jewish people forgive Hitler ! God help this country when all us Geezers are gone !!!
